“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” – George R.R. Martin
I always forget how much I love to read until I get my hands on a good book. Whether it’s a thriller, a love story, or something that’ll have me bursting out in laughter, books are exciting! Like the quote says, it’s like I’m living another life with each story.
Cuddling up with a good book and a cup a tea is the best! What’s even better? Secondhand books. Preloved pages. A recommendation or a friend’s personal favorite. Broken in and thoroughly enjoyed. That’s why I present to you, Thriftbooks.
Thriftbooks
If you haven’t yet heard of Thriftbooks yet, it’s exactly what it sounds like. An online thrift store for used books! Thriftbooks says “we pride ourselves on our wide assortment of quality used, accurately graded books provided to our customers at everyday low prices.”
You can choose your format, meaning hardcover or paperback, and your condition. Many of the books fall into a few different categories when it comes to the book’s quality. These categories are typically acceptable, good, very good, like new, and new. Personally, I choose acceptable every time it’s an option. I have never received a book I thought was anywhere near a bad condition (or what I would consider acceptable). I’m always pleasantly surprised.

Options
I can say I have never searched for a book to find out it wasn’t available. The options are incredible. Thriftbooks has sold over 165 million books since it started in 2003.
Price
When they say low prices, they mean it!
The value of these books are typically pretty low, and thankfully, the prices are pretty low too. There are so many used books in circulation because a large amount of books are printed each year. Which in my opinion is frivolous. Do we really need a million printed copies for each and every book? That is why I encourage you to be part of the solution and grab a perfectly good used book.
In addition to low prices, Thriftbooks offers rewards. Who doesn’t love rewards? Earn points on every book you buy. Once you hit 500 points you get a free book. And get your friends involved because their refer a friend deal is great too. When they spend $30 you both get a free book!
I also love the fact that you can spend as little as $10 (two books) and get free shipping!
Environmentally Friendly
If I haven’t convinced you yet, buying secondhand books is environmentally friendly. Buying used reduces the number of natural resources being used, lowers greenhouses gases, and keeps things from the landfill. Here are more reasons to thrift!
Next time you are looking for a good book, check out Thriftbooks. Get cozy on the couch and scroll through the selection. And when you are done with it, pass it on! I would love to hear all about it, so please share the love and let me know your favorite secondhand books in the comments!
Reread, reduce, recycle!!
