If you are looking for a natural and non toxic candle, beeswax might be the way to go. Beeswax candles are a natural alternative to the toxic paraffin wax candles, which are commonly found on the market today. Instead, beeswax candles burn clean, are wonderful for those with allergies or asthma and are naturally scented.

Conventional Candles

The majority of candles sold today are made from paraffin wax, also known as the toxic byproducts of petroleum. When burned, paraffin candles release toxins and other harmful chemicals into the air, compromising our air quality and health.

Additionally, the scents in candles today are mostly synthetic. These synthetic fragrances have been linked to respiratory issues, fertility issues, cancer, and more.

Don’t Compromise Your Health: Reasons to Burn Non Toxic Candles
By opting for non toxic candles made from natural ingredients and avoiding synthetic fragrances, you can enjoy the ambiance without compromising your health.

If you want to read more about toxic chemicals and safe types of candles, read my last article. One of those “safe” candles are beeswax candles. These candles deserve a special shout out for their unique nature so let’s get into it.

Beeswax Candles

Beeswax candles are natural candles that use 100% beeswax as their base. They are smoke and soot-free which gives them a very clean burn. Beeswax is a natural substance but what I love most is that it produces negative ions when burned. This is a huge benefit of beeswax candles.

Negative ions help neutralize pollutants in the air, improving indoor air pollution while they burn. Opposite of positive ions (that come from radon gas and electronic devices) negative ions help relieve stress and depression by increasing levels of serotonin and positive energy.

Not only does beeswax have a high melting point, (giving it a longer burn time), it’s a renewable resource. Choosing an option free from petroleum reduces the need for fossil fuels and improves your environmental impact.

Brian, the owner of Honey Lake Bee Company, has been beekeeping since the age of 10. Brian and his wife Karen turned their love and passion for beekeeping into a full time job.

Their family business produces only the highest quality products with absolutely no fillers, perfumes, scents or additives. They use cotton wicks that are “primed” with beeswax before the candle is made to ensure a quality burn, a longer burn time, and little smoke.
